Hi Guys,
I'm new to websphere MQ/MB.
I have been working as a admin for last 2 months.
Now i have a question.please provide ur suggestions
" We are migrating the message broker 6.0 from Windows to AIX"
1.Can we use the same broker name as the existing one in Windows?
2.Can we use the same configuration manager that is used in windows so that we can link cfg mgr to broker or wehave to create a new one?
3.Can we use the same queue manager name and channel name as the existing one?
I need ur sugestions and the impact if any ?
any adavantages ?
Please waiting for ur reply? |

Surely you mean you're migrating the v6.0 broker on Windows to v7.0 broker on AIX?
Because you really wouldn't create a new platform using software that will be out of support in four months, right?
Otherwise the only way you can do what you want is to back up the old broker and restore it on AIX. |

I have to send an analysis doc for the migration. |

No.
This forum is *NOT* a training resource.
It's a *learning* resource.

So you go from Oracle support to WMQ/WMB support and for your first task you're doing a cross-platform migration?
You clearly enjoy a challenge & know no fear. Certainly whoever gave you this task knows no fear.
This is a complex task with a number of issue, many connected to the wider environment rather than the product itself.
As my most worthy associate points out, we're not equipped to be a training resource. You wouldn't get a quality result from us anyway.
If you're switching from Oracle support to WMQ/WMB (and there's no good reason why you shouldn't if you want to) then you need to seek some formal training and/or some time to experimentation & self learning. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
