However, it is likely that the channel initiator starting the channel (inactive -> running) will be sub-second... unless the channel (network) is failing.
What is the DISCINT (disconnect interval) on the channel in question? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Yes I have seen this, The channel will go in status "Inactive" instead of "Running" which is different than "Stopped". When he get a message in "Inactive" status he has put the application on wait, while it start then process message in the queue. |
I beg to disagree. An "Inactive" channel means that no channel session exists at all, ie. its not connected.
A connected SVRCONN will show "Running" status, even when the client app is not doing anything on the connection. eg. Doesn't have any queues open, or is not doing a put or get. _________________ Glenn |

I don't want to argue gbaddeley.
By that I meant that it's possible that the channel changes its status.
Check this thread for information.
This is bases on the Heartbeat and Keep Alive interval.

We may start to get far from the original post but I only asumed that this could be a possibility.
jkfriends hasn't responded, he may have found the answer by himself. |
