I did, in a PM, but for the edification of all:
1. Right click on the folder.
2. Select 'Sharing and Security...'
3. Select the 'Security' tab.
4. Click the 'Add...' button.
5. Input the 'mqm' group and click 'OK'.
6. Give the required permissions and click 'OK'.
Caveat: Windows XP Professional

manky is the word of the day!
I tried the steps provided on Server 2003 and so far still no success in creating the QMGR

Damn! Sorry, all I have to work with at the moment is Win XP Pro (non-domain). Tomorrow I can give it a try on Win 2K8 Server Standard, but again, that's non domain.

I hate to suggest, but it *is* windows.
Have you tried restarting the IBM Websphere MQ service? Or the whole machine? |

Great. My server is not in a domain.
From the 'advanced' security box I can see that group 'mqm' has exactly the same rights on e:\mqdata & e:\mqlogs as those given to mqm on the default location of the queue manager specific files. That is, FULL Control of the folder and subfolders.
Puzzled?

Success. After a reboot I was able to create the QMGR using the original script.
(yeah, I know that this shouldn't be needed but there you go)
Thanks to everyone for their help in sorting this little contact admin 'Windows Feature' out.

| I suspect that windows wasn't letting the MQ service user see the new permissions until the service user had logged out and logged back in. |

hi Guys,
I know this is an older post, but we are facing the similar issue on MQ V7.0.1.2. on Windows 2008 R2.
Can you guys please validate our configurations below
1. we have 2 Nodes as domain controllers
2. A Shared file system located on a different server and is accessible by both the nodes above and the file system is part of the DC but it is not a domain controller by itself.
3. Created local mqm group on the DC and domain local as the group scope.
4.created "domain mqm" group at the DC level and the group scope is global domain.
5. created a user at the domain level and this user is a member of "domain mqm" group.
6.added the "domain mqm" group into the domain local "mqm" group on the servers.
7. The permissions on the file system are Full access for the group "mqm" and ownership.
8. And full access to domain local "mqm" group and user(who will create the qmgr).
Hoping all these configurations are correct.
And now when we create the qmgr it says permission error AMQ6239 and AMQ7077 errors.
Not sure whats going wrong here. Any help highly appreciated.

thanks for the response.
I just wanted to know one point here. Does the CIFS Share has to be a domain controller by itself or should be a part of the Qmgr Servers Domain controller ?
