It took me a bit longer to get from "Oh, merde!" to clicking the appropriate button. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

I can't see many companies moving, apart from the big internet players such as google.
Why? - most companies run firewalls and NATing, so they don't need the huge address blocks internally, so they will continue to run v4 internally and NAT to v6 externally. |

Once all the network hardware is in need of replacement and possibly not even then....

You have to ask what the business benefit of doing this is; how much money will they save / make as a result of going to IPv6 and how much wil it cost (network people's time, other projects deferred while this is going on, etc).
Once all the hardware is v6 it becomes much easier to perform the conversion. You just switch off the compatibility mode.... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Is the internet ready for IPv6? An internet search has turned up no firm answer to that. |

Who cares whether or not the Internet is ready for IPv6. All it will take is for the major Internet providers to be ready and switch. This will force others to follow... or perish _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

I wanted to know whether it was ready, as it's relevant to the discussion. To that extent, I care, but couldn't find the answer. Do you know the answer?
Yeah, the internet could go IPv6 (if it isn't, already). When it does, this poll then becomes a relevant question. |
