Hi

I am using ALE outbound adapter to post an Idoc in SAP from WMB.

SAP Idoc Details :
Baisc Type: /AFS/ORDERS04
Extension: YORDERS04A

In the field NameofBasicType I have entered /AFS/ORDERS04 .
"It is giving me the following error:
ALE OUTBOUND INTERFACE fail to process the request. com. ibm.j2ca.sap.exception.SapAleOutboundException: Basic IDoc Type /AFS/ORD is Unknown"

I guess somewhere the value /AFS/ORDERS04 is truncated into 8char.
Any Idea where this truncation is occurring and what is the fix for error.

Thanks in Advance
Nabin

Are you sure that /AFS/ORDERS04 is not an extension of ORDERS04 as base type, and you just modelled from or extended the extension??

Hi

No, /AFS/ORDERS04 is not extension, its a basic type.
AFS Idoc are created to cater the requirements of AFS (Apparel and Footwear) indusrty by SAP.
My Client has extended it to YORDERS04A.

Is 8 char a limitation for the WMB adapter??

Thanks

Hey thanks for repling...

Yup ... basic type is /AFS/ORDERS.. and extension is YORDERS04A

I have 1 more concern...
whenevr I am entering value of basic type as /AFS/ORDERS or extension as YORDERS04A, ITS TAKING ONLY 8 CHARS OF THE VALUE NOT THE ENTIRE VALUE.
Like in the error its showing /AFS/ORD (8 chars) is unknown or YORDERS0 (8 chars) is unknown..
Is it like that in the configuration of the ALE outbound Adapter its mentioned that the value of basic type or the extension will be 8 chars only not more than that. And if it is like that can I change the length to greater than 8 and where can I do that change?

Please reply...
Thanks in advance

I would not think so. I would expect the limitation to be the size of the SAP field... However make sure that at design time you were connected to a system supporting that IDOC, also reading up on SAP JCO might help you understand how some of the internals work...
