Dear all.
My site requires me to monitor all the MQ chanels using IBM Tivoli for
messaging. The target SLA for all the chls are 99.99% availability. How
can I monitor and what type of report I can generate to proof the chs
availability achieve the target

This is a number that makes sense only to collectors of statistics. Not (IMHO) to MQ professionals.
Did the writer of that requirement say how it was to be measured? They really need to do that. MQ does not produce an "availability" number that can be measured so the requirement needs to say what "availability" means and how that gets measured.
As an MQ professional, IMHO the only number that makes sense as a target is 100 percent. OK you can chop a little bit out of that for routine maintenance (application of fix packs etc.). Let's say 1 day per machine every month for maintenance.
But unless you're in maintenance it should be 100 percent. Ensure you have enough fast disk space, enough channels and processors etc. It should be possible to run MQ at 100 percent, if everything is got right. |

As with any other performance metric, how will you measure it?
Take a look at the WMQ Intercommunications manual for the channel status of RUNNING. Read the other channel status possibilities. Then search here for RUNNING. This has been discussed many times. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
