At risk of demonstrating my command of the obvious, irrespective of compatability that version of WMQ is out of support.

More importantly that CSD is a very old and rather dubious one. If you must use v5.3 at least apply the latest maintenance.

Thanks for the response. I am aware MQv5.3 is out of support. So are you saying they are compatible, or not?

No, I deliberately said nothing of the sort. I have no knowledge on compatibility, and very little of Weblogic generally so have no valid opinion to offer.

Gotcha, so you just wanted to raise the fact that MQv5.x was out of support. Thanks for the heads up. I was aware.

As are we all; I was trying to underline the fact that CSD 6 was not the best IBM produced and a lot of useful fixes were released after that which you really ought to apply.

CSD6 for 5.3 was no better or worse than the average CSD. You are thinking of CSD8 and CSD9 which had all the Java problems which weren't all solved until 11 or 12 I think.

I'll politely disagree if I might. I stand by my assertion that there are a lot of fixes in later CSDs that really ought to be applied to v5.3, especially in a production environment.

Now I completely agree; I think I'm correct in saying CSD8/9 are actually removed & the maintenance path for v5.3 goes CSD7 - CSD10 (but I also agree that CSD11 is the next one worth using Java with).

So my original question:

Is MQSeries Version 5.3 CSD6 Compatible with Weblogic 10.1 on AIX.

Thanks.

Anyone else? I am not concerned with CSD's for MQ 5.3 anymore.

Why dont you try it to see? That may be quicker than posting on here (you would probably have had you're answer by now).

I'd expect it to work (especially if you're using a JMS interface) but cant tell for sure without trying it!

We did get a failure today when trying it. There were initialization errors with WL for the JNDI settings and provider URL. It was working fine prior to attempting to go to WL 10, from 8.

It's down to the vendor of Weblogic to state which MQ versions they support as being compatible with WL 10. Seems unlikely to be an old version.

Why would you bother to upgrade WL and not MQ? Get both of them to vendor recommended levels or at least apply all possible maintenance to 5.3.
