Hi

I normally maintain my QMGRs via Scripting using the RUNMQSC command, with MQ scripts that are under version control. Sometimes I use the Save Queue Manager facility.

Now I have come across a client who is running a queue manager on iSeries (AS/400).

- Can I remote map that queue manager from a windows box and run save qmgr and RUNMQSC on it?
- IF not, are there corresponding tools on the iSeries platform that I could use?

You can run MQSC commands on I-Series.

For example you can use MO71 to submit them to the command server on the I-series (which must be running).

Read the Websphere MQ manual for the i-Series.

Yes, you can run saveqmgr on iSeries from a remote machine. Refer to 'help/readme' docs provided with MS03.

You can also run ms03 directly on iSeries.

And you can use MS0S with MQExplorer v6 to run mqsc on any qmgr you can connect MQExplorer to.
