We are having similar problem, we have a SEV 1 PMR open for this.
From the PMR updates I have learnt that there are many more customers who are having similar problems.
Tried many fixes and solutions by IBM but of no use, Got a new fix today may be this will work. I will post the results and all the fixes and the solutions we tried once we get to the solution of this problem.
PeterPotkay:
Are you seeing the .dat files size increasing in the BERNARD directory.
I have seen as many as 1400 messages at times when only 2 or 3 users were trying to connectfrom the toolkit onthe SYSTEM.BROKER.CONFIG.QUEUE. Even we have the same issue of slow response for mqsicreate and mqsilist ACL commands from the configmgr.
When couple of users try to connect only on euser will be succesfully connected and the other users are getting error in toolkit as configmg is not running. |

Don't underestimate the power of the Bernard.
However, I know of fixes for the following 6.1 issues you might encounter:
1) CM repositories that grow unusually large
2) slow connect times from the toolkit
Neither of these are in a fixpack yet - raise a PMR and IBM support will look after you. |

Hi PeterPotkay,
I hope IBM support has suggested you these fixes, in case they did not please try these APAR'S.
IC58241: BROKER TOOLKIT TAKES A LONG TIME TO CONNECT TO CONFIGURATION MANAGER
IC60311 - CONFIGURATION MANAGER REPOSITORY .DAT FILE SIZE INCREASING
This is just an FYI, Please ask IBM support if these are applicable to your problem based on your symptoms, because I dont know more than the creators themselves. |

We applied IC60311, hasn't helped.
Our .dat files are very large. The PMR folks are looking at this aspect of it too.
broker_new I assume you opened a PMR as well? _________________ Peter Potkay

FYI, there are fixes additional to IC58241 that further improve toolkit connection times. |

Matt, not only are the initial conections very slow the more flows and sets you have, but deploys are slow and ACL commands can take 2-3 minutes to complete. _________________ Peter Potkay

From the PMR they supplied 6.1.0.3-WS-MB-LINUX_X86_64-TFIC60311A.zip which contains 53861, 53338, IC60311, PK81837, 53436, 53524, 53525, IC59618, IC59818 and IC59818.1, I applied them all and nothing changed, still extremely slow to connect/deploy/run ACL commands |

Did you exported the env variable to compress the broker table.
Can you please check the following
1. run mqsibackupconfigmgr before applying the fix.
2. run the mqsibackupconfigmgr command after applying the fix.
Check the backup zip file size, I could see it reduced by almost 4 to 5 times. |

The backup is smaller, went from 3788470 to 1914464, but still takes around 10 minutes to connect and I see over 500 messages in SBCQ when connecting. Waiting again for PMR suggestions but so far nothing has helped. I do have a ton of .dat files in xxx/BERNARD/seg0 dir, not sure what that means I'll let the PMR know. |

By the way, I set this in the profile of the user that starts CfgMgr:
export MQSI_COMPRESS_CBROKER_TABLE=1
Is that how you did it? |

Yes the above env variable is exported in the profile of the user where the configmgr is started.
The value can be set to any lower value. I have set this to 100. |
