the channels in my server stopped automatically today resulting in stoppage of activities.
I've started them manually and now are working fine. Have checked the eroor logs and could not find anything due that time.
Wht could be the reason???? |

It would be the reason quoted in the channel logs. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

If the channel had disconnected, the channel status would be INACTIVE not STOPPED. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

The error logs would have recorded at the time when the problem actually occured. You need to check the whole log file. _________________ Regards

I haven't got any error logs created during that time. The time when the channel was started manually was recorded.
but proior to that what has happened, nothing is recorded. |

Even the messages sent thru the MQ which are bigger in size are cut into smaller size and only the first 1 or 2 parts are sent across and the remaining are staying bac.
I've tried changin the maximun message length, but for no use. |

How many channels are affected? one channel? or all channels on the queue manager?
Does the queue manager have a dead letter queue? Are there messages on it?
What else changed at the time that "the channels stopped automatically"?
Who has access to the system? Who could have been logged onto it at the time in question? What priviledges do they have? What could they have done?
Were channels to other queue managers stopped at the same time? Did *they* log something? |

This is the first time you've mentioned this. Are you saying these are segmented messages? Grouped? Are the channels actually stopped or are there simply untransmitted messages?
You seem to be talking about 2 problems here as one problem. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

But it's still 2 separate errors that may or may not be connected!
So what you're saying here is "bad stuff happened, here are some symptoms, please help".
What evidence do you have that the message problem is connected to the channel problem?
What is the nature of these messages? Why are they segmented?
What happens to them? Do they (or part of them) not get transmitted even when the channels are running?
Does the channel outage correspond with the sending of these messages?
Are all the logs devoid of information on the channels?
Are the channels actually stopped or just inactive? Do you mean "stopped" in the sense of "not doing what I expect"?
What steps have you taken to resolve this other than increasing max message length? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

the channel stopped and manually started and is running since then but the new problem of the messages getting segmented into parts and only the first part moving and the rest of the parts staying back ; it is the strange thing happening here..... |

No it's 2 strange things that should be 2 threads.
Channels stopping we've covered. Messages (or message segments) not being transmitted is a different thing. Start another thread, and give us more details than "the first part moves and the others stay back". _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
