It's not configured to start automatically?

IIRC correctly on Windows the default is manual.

You don't have MQSeries set to Automatic in Windows Services o that server, and/or you don't have the Queue Manager set to Automatic Startup via MQ Explorer on that server.

Then look in the event log to see what errors it's throwing on auto start & resolve as necessary.

Use the MQ Services (not MQ Explorer) panel to set the queue manager startup sequence to automatic. Also you can issue the command:

amqmdain auto <queuemanager>

If the MQ Services were not running, the manual start would not suceed!

The queue manager doesn't run as an independant service and hence can only be set to auto start via the MQ Explorer!

There is no "MQ Services" Panel in any supported version of WebSphere MQ.

There is only MQ Explorer and the Windows Services control panels.

And the MQ Services to which I referred is the one shown in the Windows Services.

Oh, I know. I was questioning masteringmq's use of

So was I. But attempting to be tactful (not a natural posture for me but always willing to explore new things)

It appears one of the solution posted in mqseries long ago is incorrect. The same solution posted long ago I posted here as quoted.

This is my solution: amqmdain auto <queuemanager>

It was probably correct for the version of the software in use when the posting was made. There's a raft of stuff about MQSI that's utterly redundant.

If you're going to repost existing solutions (and it's a valid thing to do) the best thing is to post a link to the previous thread rather than the content. This allows people to see the thread in it's entireity, and gain some context.

It's also best to check the solution is both relevant (same or very similar problem) and valid (same or similar platform & software version)
