Hi all,
I want to degrade MQ 6.0.2.3 to MQ 5.3 on AIX 5.3
I have used smitty > Software Installation and Maintenance> Software Maintenance and Utilities>Reject Applied Software Updates (Use Previous Version)
This has uninstalled fixpack 6.0.2.3... and now my MQ level is 6.0.0.0
Now can somebody help me on degrade the MQ 6.0 to MQ 5.3 on AIX? _________________ Ankur ~~ |

You have to delete your QMs, uninstall MQ6, install MQ 5.3 and the appropriate CSD, re-create your QMs.
But why would you wish to do this? MQ 5.3 is no longer supported. _________________ Cheers,

Actually we have done successfull upgradation from MQ 5.3 to MQ 6.0 and with fixpack 6.0.2.3... but after that WAS application creating problem because the WAS team didnot stop the WAS before upgradation proceeded.
so now need to backout this. _________________ Ankur ~~ |

Why backout and not just recycle WAS? _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

how can you make sure the WAS will work fine, if you roll-back the MQ to V5
think about what fjb_saper suggested you. _________________ Regards

Well, while installing MQ 5.3 it got failed because these files were not present...
*dce.client.rte.pthreads 3.1.0.0
*dce.pthreads.rte 2.1.0.1
any idea ? _________________ Ankur ~~ |

That's because you did not install the DCE version.
Anyways this might have been why 6.0 did not work. AFAIK DCE is obsolete in 6.0 and SSL should replace it. You should no longer use kerberos...

When you install, don't include the filesets mqm.dce.server or mqm.dce.samples, they are the only WebSphere MQ filesets that have dependencies on DCE. _________________ Philip Morten

So, if I won't include these filesets then would the installation be successful and thenceforth would this MQ be able to talk to different applications ? _________________ Ankur ~~ |

As long as you don't need DCE support then yes. Table 2 in the 5.3 Quick Beginnings for AIX lists the WebSphere MQ filesets - you should select the ones you need to meet your requirements. _________________ Philip Morten
