A sender channel comes with the attribute CONNAME with the IP address and port number as the value. Suppose the machine in which I am trying to connect has a dynamic IP address. In other words the IP address of the machine keeps changing on system restart, how will this impact the connection between queue manager?. Also is there a way to resolve this issue?. Is the solution by using a host name like www.mquk.com?

yes, if you have dynamic ip addresses you should use hostnames, or you have to change the ip in conname every time a new ip address is assigned.

That's exactly why CONNAME is recommended to be a host name (resolvable by DNS) rather than an IP Address!

If you want a nice DR capability, set up a special host name in the DNS for each MQ queue manager system. When the primary system fails, and the qmgr is switched over to a new system, just change the IP address in the DNS. That way, none of the SENDER channels need to be modified when the switch over occurs.

They won't need to be modified, but unless you were able to copy the qmgr's file system to the DR you'll have potential loss of in flight msgs and you may have to reset some chl sequences...(not necessary if your whole MQ network moved to DR)...

Enjoy
