We recently upgraded a 64-bit Linux SUSE node from 32-bit MQ server v 6.0.2.2 to 64-bit MQ server v.7.0.
Now the firewall admins here are insinuating that MQ has the IP "do not fragment" flag turned on and as such is causing our current issue with a B2B partner over VPN.
I suspect that it is possible that IBM has a bug in which they left the "do not fragment" flag on in development code.
I believe that the B2B partner is MQ v6 for Windows.
Has anyone else encountered any issues where sender/receivers over VPN encountered issues after migrating to v7 server?

Check out which compatibility mode MQ V7 is running in. _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

fjb_saper,
I searched to the end of the earth and finally found something about compatibility mode. It is in the intercommunication guide. The sender channel that is "sending over vpn" has a value of "COMPATIBILITY" for the MQPROP_COMPATIBILITY property.
Is this what you are asking?
I do not see such a property on the receiver so I assume forward compatibility is not an issue, only backward.
It sounds as if I have compatibility set properly? You agree? _________________ Make three correct guesses consecutively and you will establish a reputation as an expert. ~ Laurence J. Peter |

Check the V7 manuals. Especially where the RFH header is concerned with pub/sub etc..,. you need to set the compatibility mode to the right value. I would also look for it under the qmgr attributes.

I am quite sure that it is not IPV4 v/s IPV6 issue. We still have not determined what the issue is.
We contacted IBM via ESR and they insist it is not an MQ issue.
The network team will be opening a ticket with CISCO to see if they see an issue.
We still have not ruled an issue on the Linux SUSE virtual host.
I will post root cause here when we know what it is. _________________ Make three correct guesses consecutively and you will establish a reputation as an expert. ~ Laurence J. Peter |
