I'm experiencing problems with WMQI v2.1 CSD03 against Oracle 8.1.7. When I run multiple execution groups and additional instances I get execution group abends. The following was found in the readme.txt file.
***
Oracle 8.1.7 Client.
If you are using Oracle 8.1.7 as your broker database and/or New Era of Networks database, you may experience an execution group hang or abend when multiple message flow threads try to connect to the Oracle database. This may be due to a known problem in the Oracle 8.1.7 client, described by Oracle bug ID 1416998. The problem is caused by the Oracle process failing whilst trying to make a connection to the database. It is recommended you work around the problem by replacing the Oracle 8.1.7 client with the earlier Oracle 8.1.6 client, which does not exhibit the problem.
***
Now when installing and configuring mqsi_setup needs to be run, this created a link in the wmqi direcetories which point to the oracle client library. So I deleted the one to the 8.1.7 library and created on to an 8.1.6 client library which also resides on the box. However this made no difference. ..
Has anybody else experienced this problem? If so were you able to get around it by using 8.1.6 and if so did you need to recreate the broker or do anything additional to simply changing the linked version of the client library?
Any thoughts or help would be most welcome!
Thanks

Jamie,
apparently this is fixed in 8.1.7.99, why don't you ask Chris Bell access Oracle Metalink and get a patch or the driver for the fixed version?

Thanks for your thoughts Terry. I'll check with our DBA.
Cheers

There is no such release as 8.1.7.99 .... This bug has not been fixed in 8.1.7, rather it has been rectified in 9i. So if anyone has got a 8.1.6 client working around this and can tell me how it's done I'd be most grateful!
Thanks
