I'm new to MQ but am building a new installation.
I have been told that MQ creates a seperate TCP connection for each message it sends and recieves and under extreme load the TCP port list can run out of available ports.
This is a surprise to me as there are a lot of free ports...however is this a potential issue I should be aware of? and is it possible to load balance two NICs to double the available ports?
The information came from someone who built an MQ5.3 environment (quite some time ago), and this may no longer be an inssue for me as I'm installing 6.0.2.3 Windows clients and Windows servers.
Cheers

its surprising me too, it never happened to us at all, i didnt see its using different port for different message.
Beware of those people who spreads rumours with out going through the product properly. (I doubt they could be marketing team from other product vendors)

I suspect that what's being referred to here are the ports used for client connections. These are not used per message, but per application connected to the queue manager. Under conditions of heavy load, it's possible for the box to run out of resources (including ports I imagine - I have a vague memory of seeing a discussion on limits for various OS somewhere), but my expereince is that the box runs out of memory or the queue manager hits max connections in loaded conditions.
There have been a number of discussions in the forum on MaxChannels & 2009/2019 errors. The Search Button Is Your Friend.
This doesn't apply to queue manager <-> queue manager connections, which are handled differently. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
