Java (application) Architect experienced with Websphere
Exchange Place (www.exchangeplace.com), a subsidiary of Accoona Corp (www.accoonacorp.com) is the first marketplace platform to freshly-originate and deliver qualified and verified consumer buyer leads in real time—for all types of goods and services, from local to national markets. Exchange Place connects with consumers on- and offline to match them with the right pre-screened sellers, to receive targeted product and service offers, pricing, information, direct sales access and other services.
Exchange Place is seeking a Technical Architect to join and lead a development team to take Exchange Place from prototype to an industry-defining application. The Architect will contribute to the design and development of large-scale applications. The Architect will have a solid understanding of open source and mainstream technologies powering all aspects of Web application development database architecture, software code development and component integration. The candidate will work in close collaboration with the Director of Engineering to most efficiently develop resources that can benefit Exchange Place technology.
Responsibilities:
• Guide the development team.
• Instill best practices across all development efforts.
• Manage R&D for both next generation product development and new product development.
• Assist in resource planning and allocation.
• Participate in buy/build decisions
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years experience in a technical or minimum 2 years in an architecture role
• Must have a solid understanding of mainstream technologies powering state of the art Ad Serving, Search technologies and large-scale web applications
• Bachelors Degree in Information Systems (or other computer-related discipline) or equivalent experience
• Experience designing and deploying Enterprise Software Applications on industry standard frameworks required.
• Excellent application development skills with tools like Java, JSP/Servlets, EJBs, XML, & the like.
• Experience designing and deploying Enterprise Software Applications on industry standard frameworks required.
• Experience with distributed architecture required. (e.g. Applications running on 10+ servers)
• Strong object oriented programming skills.
• Experience with SOA and Web Services is required.
• Experience with high-transaction systems is strongly encouraged.
• Must be an experienced team leader.
• Possess abilities to translate their knowledgebase into software code development and component integration.
• Ability to think creatively and suggest alternative development solutions.
• Ability to complete projects on a timely basis with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Substantial real-world experience and prior involvement working on high-visibility software projects and managing multiple projects concurrently
Must haves:
Well-rounded knowledge of Java, Web Development, Oracle, Websphere, and hardware
Hands-on experience in design/development/architecture of new web application / J2EE systems
Support / rearchitecting of J2EE systems
J2EE / design patterns
Security
Servlets/JSPs
JMS
Web Services
EJB
Websphere, JBoss, Weblogic or other Application Server
Very strong background and deep understanding of core Java
Nice to have:
Hibernate expertise
Spring expertise
RAD experience
Agile developement experience
Maven / test-driven development
Experience with Ad Serving a plus (very big plus)
Experience with high volume web applications a plus.
Experience with designing “white label” distributed web applications a plus.
