downloaded, unzipped the files, burned DVD (3.3GB),
ran install in a VMWare session using Windows Server 2003 and MQ V6.0 already installed,
except for a few minor glitches (maybe because of user error... ),
smooth sailing and had a sample deployed in under an hour...
Toolkit part 1 to 3 is in directory disk1 to disk3
Runtime 1 to 3 are in directory messagebroker_runtime1 to 3
when I launched mqsilaunchpad.exe from disk1 it starts looking for the DB2 runtime client 8,2 which is in messagebroker_runtime1, except it started looking in x:\disk1\... instead of x:\messagebroker_runtime1\...
just use the browse button to point the install to right directory and continue...
on a T60p and a VMWare session with 768MB RAM it took me just under an hour, but had to manually intervent a couple of times so it could have been faster... _________________ Michael

take some time and check out the Samples. Several new ones have been added to introduce some of the new nodes and new security functionality.
Foe example, the Collector sample shows two MQ msgs and a FileInput being combined via Collector nodes..
Several samples on various ways to use the FileInput/Output nodes.
And, the new security samples - its time to study up on LDAPs
Some of you have attended one of IBM's WebSphere Message Broker Proof of Technology sessions over the past several years. We (the team that develops this PoT) have been busy redesigning the labs around a new scenario. Ou new scenario will build a SOAP web service, using the new SOAP nodes, will call another web service that invokes the sample adapter. We'll make use of the new Route node, the new Thransmission Headers supportpac, the file input/output nodes - and when its finished - no ESQL or JAVA code will have been written - and I'm not considering that the Mapping nodes actually generate ESQL code.
Hve fun. _________________ Bill Matthews |

Do we know how buggy it is ? |
That's for you to decide! I don't have exact defect numbers/regression results etc. (and unfortunately, I don't think IBM would let me share them if I did) but from what I've seen we're looking better than equivalent v6.0.

is it just 6.0.2 with all the bits people want ? |
Do you reckon IBM could use that as a marketing slogan? |

Seem to be getting a lot of out of memory errors.
running on a T60 with 2Gig ram.
6.0.2 runs ok doing the same work load, with the same apps running. |

Raise a PMR if you're running into problems! I'm just about to install on my T61, so will let you know if I get anything similar. |

I'm running in a 1.5g vmware image and have not seen any memory problems. _________________ Bill Matthews |
