Hi,

I am new to WMQI, already we have clustering environment. now we are planning to add WMQI to the clustering env. The question is shall we put ConfigMgr and Broker in the same cluster by creating cluster channels(instead of distrubuted channels)? or else do we need to create distributed channels between ConfigMgr and Broker irrespective of cluster? please let me know..

thanks in advance...

Please review the WMQI Intro and Planning Guide,
it does not recommend adding your ConfigMgrs's Qmgr
to Clusters. Our broker is not a part of the Cluster, but
our application queues are.

Hope this helps!

Unless we're looking at different versions of the MQSI Intro and Planning Guide, I can't see that it recommends against MQ clustering. It says "think carefully", but doesn't seem to expand on reasons against.

I'd go with clustering with the usual clustering caveats: follow the book, don't muck around with things. As the nursery rhyme says, "When she was good, she was very, very good. But when she was bad she was horrid."

I have had problems with Clustering(V5.1) in the past with getting MQSIV2.0.1 deploys from the ConfigMgr's Clustered QMGR to the Broker's Clustered QMGR to work properly. The data was getting to the Broker database but the reply mesage from the broker was not getting back to the ConfigMgr. The problem was related to the Queues that the MQSI install(s) create not being in the cluster.

Regards,
Phil
