hi,

I'm looking for a tool / support pac that will help me to dump 100s of messages in to a queue. I need to do this to test performance and Message throughput.

I remember using a similar support pac couple of years ago. But, I'm not able to recall its name now.

Can someone help me out?

I like the MS0H Support Pack for generating messaages:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg24000918&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en

This post shows you how I set it up:

The MO71 Support Pack has excellent Move, Copy and Generate new message features as well.

There are probably a half dozen other Support Packs that do this basic sort of thing.

One or the sample programs you get with MQ is call amqblst or something like that. It "blasts" tons of messages at your q if you want.

If you need robust capability in this area, I suggest you look at the Capitalware product that Roger makes specifically for this type of thing.

I quite like MA0T for this kind of application.

Hi,

MQ Batch Toolkit is a command line tool but if you prefer a GUI tool then have a look at MQ Visual Edit.

Support Pac IH03 is a free GUI tool from IBM that can replay messages from files etc.

Aka RFHUTIL or RFHUTILC (MQ Client version). I highly recommend it and it has been continually updated. It also has a proper manual!

MQExerciser also does this with the option of setting a timer interval to pace the puts. For example, you can have one test message put every 'n' milliseconds. Or you can point to files in a folder and put each one as a message with 'n' milliseconds between each put.

That's not exactly true. IH03 is written by Jim McNair who happens to be an IBM employee but IH03 is a category 2 SupportPac.
Hence:

Category 2 SupportPacs are provided in good faith and AS-IS. There is no warranty or further service implied or committed and any supplied sample code is not supported via IBM product service channels.

There were 5 products / tools listed above, which of them are you saying has a poor manual?

don't take it personal, he did say "also has a proper manual"
which does not imply the others don't

Hi,

Forums and emails are very cold and harsh, hence, I don't take it personally.

If all of the products had 'a proper manual' then there would be no point to him making the comment. But he did make the comment, which implies that there is something not proper about 1 or more manuals of other products.

If everyone thought the top 10 men's ranked tennis players were 'great tennis players' then following analogy would be weird too:

Novak Djokovic plays tennis and so does Roger Federer. Federer is also a great tennis player!

The second sentence is not necessary but since it was written, it implies that Novak Djokovic is not a 'great tennis player' or is lacking in some way.

Food for thought.

It's free, from IBM and also has a proper manual (unlike most freeware). OK now?

Did you look carefully at all of the tools mentioned here?

Jeff,

I know RFHUTIL(c), which reads a file and put in to queue(s), but I am looking for automating tool for load testing. May be it can be configured but I have not done and I do not know.

Also, my source is MF(zos). I am not sure what tool work for MF.

It depends on what you mean for "works for MF".

If you don't have a CAF, you likely need to write something.

If RFHUtilC works, then you likely have a CAF. And any of these tools will also work.
