I need to find out how many messages per second I am actually sending. I am not looking for performance numbers.

I don't want to write any code, other than a simple shell script, or spend any money. Any suggestions?

Download the free MO71 Support Pack.
Turn Performance Events on for your QM.
Use MO71 to look at Queue Statistics for the queues you are interested in.
