I installed MQ V6 on an existing Windows server, which had Win/2003 server installed. I added the latest fixpack to MQ ( version 6.0.2.2 ).
After rebooting MQ was fine, but another product already on the machine stopped working. The other product would appear to not be able to tolerate a Gskit version later than 7.0.3.18. The MQ install appears to have upgraded Gskit to version 7.0.4.11. Furthermore, removal of MQ did not put back the old version of Gskit.
Is there a way to install MQ V6 and a fixpack, without upgrading Gskit ?
Thanks. |

On Windows, the GSKit install is tightly coupled to the WebSphere MQ install.
On Unix, of course, it's usually a separate file set that is installed separately using smitty or rpm or etc.
It should be possible to get an update of 'the other product' that is compatible with the version of GSKit that comes with 6.0.2.2.
It's very very likely that 6.0.2.2 upgraded GSKit to a specific version because it required specific features of that version, and that even if you could finagle things so that there was a lower version of GSKit installed - MQ might not work instead of the other program. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The other product in this case is ITM ( used to be called Omegamon ). It comes with a caution that it does not support versions of Gskit above 7.0.3.18. |

There should be a version available, or available... shortly.. that supports 6.0.2.2.
You can certainly open a PMR with the Tivoli team. It may just be that the Tivoli/Omegamon team had to wait for 6.0.2.2 to be officially released before they could officially release an update that would support it. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I'm not sure that the Tivoli team is waiting for MQ 6.0.2.2. It looks like each MQ fixpack introduces a new version of Gskit. Fixpack 6.0.2.2 installs Gskit 7.0.4.11. The previous MQ fixpack, 6.0.2.1 introduced Gskit version 7.0.3.30.
ITM appears to currently have a restriction that it will not work with a version of Gskit beyound 7.0.3.18. So it seems likely that ITM 6.1 would also be incompatible with MQ 6.0.2.1.
I would like to be able to install MQ without upgrading Gskit. |

You can't install WMQ without upgrading GSKit. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
