Hello all,
I am a very green MQ user and am having an issue connecting to a QM that was set up with the default config wizard. I can create a connection to the broker locally but I cannot seem to create a connection across the LAN. Can someone explain how this is accomplished or point me in the direction of some good docs to do this?

oh, and my apologies for such a newb question...

Thanks,
S

can you tell us what you've done? It will be easier to start there, than with covering all of the things that maybe could be done.

Absolutely...

All I have done is installed MQ & message broker tookit (w/ wizard) on a windows workstation. Then I created the default configuration (w/ wizard).

Next I created a new message flow project and added a ScadaInput Node (default port 1883), tied directly to a ScadaOutput node(no other processing), deployed to execution group, yadda yadda...

I have tested the flow using a MQTT client utility application that attempts to connect to the broker as defined in this article -
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/library/techarticles/0508_oconnell/0508_oconnell.html

the app connects just fine and everything is thumbs up when connecting to the broker using 127.0.0.1 (local loopback) - but as soon as I move the app to another machine on the same LAN - I am unable to establish a connection (using the LAN IP). I am assuming that there is a configuration step to enable a remote connection to the QM - but I have been unable to track down the appropriate documentation.

I have also turned off the local firewall and have verified that there are no port conflicts w/ netstat - just to eliminate that.

I'm confused.

What are you trying to connect to?

The QM?

The ScadaInput node?

A ConfigMgr?

Can you use telnet to reach the port you need to?

Problem resolved...

There was a conflict with my VPN client silently intercepting the transmissions - disabled that service and things started to behave as advertised.

Thanks for your help.
