Hello,
I have installed MQ6.0 successfully on AIX 5.3. Now when I try to uninstall the software I am facing problems.
I am using smit to uninstall the MQ6.0. Using smit I am into:
"Software Installation and Maintenance
Software Maintenance and Utilities
Remove Installed Software "
and removed the following:
mqm.base.runtime
mqm.base.samples
mqm.base.sdk
mqm.client.rte
mqm.java.rte
mqm.keyman.rte
mqm.man.en_US.data
mqm.msg.en_US
mqm.server.rte
mqm.txclient.rte.
sample output when I removed mqm.base.runtime:
SUCCESSES
---------
Filesets listed in this section passed pre-deinstall verification
and will be removed.
Dependents
----------
Filesets listed in this section depend on one or more of the selected
filesets (listed above) and, therefore, must also be removed.
base.samples 6.0.0.0 Samples

client.rte 6.0.0.0 Client for AIX

After the above message I have removed /var/mqm and /usr/mqm directories but still i can see the software names in the Remove installed software(smit).

The AIX package management tools enforce dependencies between packages. All of the other mqm packages have a dependency on mqm.base.runtime so it can not be removed untill all its dependents have gone.
You can select multiple packages in SMIT or you can set the option 'REMOVE dependant software?' to 'yes'. _________________ Philip Morten

Hi Philip,
I have seet the 'Remove Dependent Software' option to 'Yes' and I could see the Success message. But when I have checked the software installed I can still see the mqm packages.
