I am getting a "Segmentation Fault - Coredump" error when trying to export all NNSY messaging formats using the NNFie utility. I run the following command..
NNFie -e Formats.exp
(This should export all formats to the Formats.exp file.) It gets part way through then aborts with the above error and creates a Core file. Has anyone seen this before?
(I'd like to go to IBM with it, but it's being done as part of the final step in migrating our last remaining environment from WMQI 2.1 to WMB 6.0. And as such, it is no longer supported.)
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
-Mike. _________________ -Mike. |

This does ring bells, but... it is a long time since we migrated from 2.1. I did a quick search of my documentation but could not come up with anything specific. So I'm marking my spot incase no-one else can help.
In the meantime... Is there any indication in NNFie.log about what is going on? Does consistency checker flag any major problems? Can you get any information from the syslog/core file? Do you have the 'latest' CSD's on your 2.1. system for NNSY? Could you use the database backup & restore facilities instead of an export/import - probably not as the table structure will change.
I vaguely recall having to abandon a export of everything in one go and export a named list of format collections instead (having spent time making sure all the formats were in collections) but I can't remember why.
Please shout if you don't get any more help from an NNSY guru and I'll look in more depth at our upgrade notes.

Thank you both. Vicky, if you have any notes that might say what you did to fix this problem, I'd love to know what they say. (If you don't mind taking the time to look.) I've tried to run this export a bunch of times and it always aborts in the exact same place. .. Plus, we have waaay too many formats to export them all one by one.
Thanks guys,

Sorry. I can't find anything useful.
But are the other NNSY utilities working OK?
Ae you happy with the consistency checker output?
As it aborts in the same place can you identify a troublesome format to try exporting by itself?
And, I'm sure you've already covered it but make sure you add it to your list of 'Why we should not run unsupported software!' for feedback to those who make the decisions. |

I was just going over some old files and saw you can specify multiple formats on the export (rather then one by one) using -m Format1 Format2 Format3 etc...
if you have a list of formats you could try them by 10s or 20s and see which is the culprit...
hope it helps. _________________ Michael
