Hi Guys
On the weekend I made a change to one of our channels.
The change was an IP and port number change.
I stopped the channel, updated the CName and reset and resolved the channel before starting it up again. This didnt work, the status was just retrying continuously.
I then created a carbon copy of the channel, with the new CName and port number... and this worked?
My question is why would this happen? Do the channels cache information?
Any ideas would be much appreciated as I have to report to the Boss with an update on the error.
I did check the eventlog and there were errors stating something along the lines of network connection issues.
Thanks alot guys

Something more specific would be helpful....
The question is which network address is shown in these errors - the new one or the old one? If it's the old one, then either the change you made to the channel was ineffective for some reason. If it's the new one, then perhaps it was a network issue, resolved by the time you manged to set up a new channel.
This is of course all guesswork. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

It seems that the IP address is change during the update. Are you using IP address or DSN. Further if you said new CName and portnumber, first thing come to my mind is you mistyp the IP address or the port number
pls place the error and both chl defs here if you need further help.

It was an IP and I know that I typed that right.
Id like to give you the channel defs, but thats a security risk.
Ill see if I can still find the error in the eventlog, I think the network admin has a routine cleanup, or backup. |
