Well, I'm not arguing.

I'm explaining the reason for my original statement - that I am unsure of the value of using JMS outside a J2EE container: to whit, that it's a standard defined inside a specific scope and that specific scope is designed with a J2EE container/App Server in mind.

I felt it a simple substitution to replace "JMS" with "EJB" and "Messaging" with "database" in the statement made. I'd explain further, but that would be arguing with you rather than with Bobby Woolf. And I'm not sure the value of arguing with either of you.

If nothing else I'm looking at JMS with file context and standalone java as a great teaching value. Before you can understand how to configure correctly the more complicated JNDI environments provided by your Web App Server you need to understand what the JNDI environment provides and how to code for it in the WAS J2EE environment. This is where this lightweight environment will give a good insight and possibly start you on the right path...

And yet, another worthwhile observation for building a standalone (non-app server)JMS application with which I , yet again, concur.
