Hi All,
Is it possible to monitor queues, channels etc on Linux without a monitoring tool and any java/pcf programming.I mean is it possible to monitor mq processes and then send a sms using linux. I mean i don't know but i want to know if i my thinking is correct and if someone can provide more details of doing this on linux platform.
Regards

You're going to need to write / purchase something surely? Even if it's a script? In theory, you could script runmqsc to check stati and depths but it's be a bit cumersome.
As to sending sms from linux I have no clue. Never tried it, don't know where you'd start, might be really easy or impossible for all I know. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

MQ, on all platforms, makes monitoring information AVAILABLE.
There is nothing, that I'm aware of, that comes for free with any linux distribution, that knows how to read that monitoring information.
You need to buy or write something that can read that monitoring information.
Then you need to figure out what conditions require action.
Those conditions should result in an SMS message. Most of the tools that you can buy will send SMS messages, afaik. Whether or not the solution you write, if you write one, can depends entirely on what code you write. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

A cron/bash script and mqsc scripts could surely handle the thing. Then ofcourse it's up to you if this somewhat dirty solution correlates with your environment. |

A monitoring tool using a MQ client connection can monitor any platform.
For example AppWatch works this way. |
