Hello,
This a very basic questions.
Quote: |
The Command server need not be active if the administrations is to be carried out on the local system. |
If the above statement is true, it means that if you have to administer the MQ objects remotely, you need a Command server running.
Then who handles all the administrative commands on the local system?
Hope my question is clear...

Hello,
It is stated that the PCF commands are handled by the Command server.
also the MQ Explorer send PCF commands. So according to my perception the command server needs to be running when you administer objects using explorer
But thats not the case the commands were executed even though I did not run the Command server...does the MQ Explorer have its own Command server??
Thanks once again

BTW I realized where I got the information about the Explorer from...
Its given in the e-book, WebSphere MQ Security for v5.3
The exact words are quoted below...
Quote: |
The WebSphere MQ Explorer on Windows systems issues PCF commands to perform administration tasks. |
that is why there is this confusion...
Thank you,

No. v6 uses PCF to perform it's functions.
As to the quote you give, it does say that doesn't it? I've never noticed that before and can only conclude I'm wrong and it is using PCF commands. Hence only works when a command server is running...
...contradicting the other quote. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

You're not judging it - I am!
The documentation for v5.3 you quote clearly states it uses PCF commands, something I believed not to be the case and the reason the v5.3 Explorer can run sans command server. Hence either my understanding is wrong (very possible!) or there's an error in the documentation (again possible).
I suspect only a passing IBMer can resolve this question.
Never be afraid to question posts or posters. As a wise man once said "Grand Master just means posts too much". It's no indication of knowledge, there are masters & acolytes in here who know more than I do. They just have less time to answer questions! _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
