Windows 2003 SP1
MQ 5.3 CSD11
WB-IMB 5.0 CSD4
About once a day, one of our HTTP-In-MQ-Out flows causes the below to happen:
3 or 4 messages go to the SYSTEM.ADMIN.QMGR.EVENT complaining that it can't find some SYSTEM.BROKER.IPC.QUEUE* queues
1 or 2 messages go to the SYSTEM.ADMIN.QMGR.EVENT saying it can't find the MQ output queue, which are clustered queues hosted on remote queue managers in the cluster.
An FDC is created (output below)
One Broker is a Full Repository QM, the other is a partial. They both see the remote clustered queues just fine. If I open up an AMQSPUT session immediately, it finds the queues just fine. There are thousands of transactions going from the Brokers to these queues all day long, so I don't think there is any problem with queue resolution. But for some reason the WB-IMB flow is having this problem sporadically.
I opened up a PMR, but they want us to start a detailed trace and leave it running until the problem occurs, which is sometimes days.
Any ideas?

What's the RC thrown back to the Broker?
What's the top part of the stack trace?
What's the likelihood of upgrading to a newer CSD of Broker? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The only way way to know would be the trace, right? Nothing in Event Viewer.

What's the likelihood of upgrading to a newer CSD of Broker?
|
What are you, IBM? (Actually, I am now IBM Global Services. Got outsourced.)
We are planning to upgrade to 6.0 this summer, both MQ and WMB. Don't know that this is big enough of a problem to force an early upgrade. No customers are complaining. Only our monitoring picked up on it. _________________ Peter Potkay

Ideally, the message flow would capture the MQRC as part of the exception list in the flow, and log that somewhere.
If nothing is in event viewer, that means that the flow is not rolling that exception all the way back to the HTTPInput node. Or that the flow is not actually seeing an error.
Looking at the stack trace - and bear in mind I'm not really qualified to read the stack trace - I'd guess that you're running out of low level kernel resources of some kind. Are you running this flow under XA? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Also, leaving debug trace on in broker will impact performance, so you're probably right not to turn it on and leave it running.
On the other hand, you won't likely be able to get much more than unqualified guesses as to what's going on if you don't run the trace... _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
