Well I wouldn't just change batch size in prod....

If this has been working for a while (and unless you've just implemented a new code release we must assume it has) then presumably you've got an issue that's grinding slowly through available log. You need to checking the queue manager's max uncommitted messages, that sort of thing. I again commend the forum's log discussions to you.

But you don't want to be experimenting in a production environment, and increasing log space in prod will be non-trival. Hope the batch size of 10 works out for you short/medium term; batches smaller than that will hurt the channels.

Another thing to look out for of course is an application sending really big messages under syncopoint (20Mb+), especially messages that have only been coming recently.

I think I should emphasise again that you've met the key criteria, i.e. got your production system working again in a timely fashion. This is not to be underestimated.

Any negative posting is simply due to a paranoid fear that the root cause is still out there, and your solution potentially has performance implications for message throughput, so may be unsustainable from a business perspective.

But you know all that anyway, and are probably working through it as I speak.

While you cannot change the size of the circular log files, you can change the number of log files on an existing queue manager. It does require a recycle of the queue manager.
