Doesn't matter, none of the fields are fixed length they are all variable length.

Your solution is far too complicated. Would this work?
- ASBITSTREAM to obtain a BLOB
- Manipulate the BLOB to insert the correct length.
I know it means doing a little bit of parsing in your ESQL, but look at the alternative!

My solution isnt complicated at all, just cumbersome. Let me be clear on your suggestion.

1. After I map from xml to TDS
2. ABISTREAM to obain BLOB (still unsure of this syntax)
3. Manipulate the BLOB to insert the correct Length (twice)

You should be able to calculate the length of the Length field without having to insert it into the message first.
