Hi,
We have MQSeries for R/3 Link installed on NT.
When we install it creates a folder bin/errors which has 2 error log files...smqerr01.log and smqerr02.log of size 251KB each.
My question is - can we increase the size of the files? If so how?
TIA,
Manoj |

You can increase the Logfile size by editing Qm.ini for a Queue Manager and update the respective Parameter. If it is in Windows, update the paramter in the Registry.
Parameter is Logfilepages.
Once you edit this parameter, you need to bounce the QueueManager to make the change effective
Full Information is available in System Administration Manual - Configuring MQseries. |

Not sure about this one. I'd think that the log file pages parameter is related to the size of the mqseries logs, not error logs.... Regradless of the number of pages I have in my MQSeries log files my Link for R/3 error files are always 250Kb.
As far as I know there is no way of extending the file size. If you really want to collect more information turn logging off in in.ini / out.ini - this means only errors will be written to the error log and you could re-direct the output of smqso / smqsi to a file to keep a track of successful sends / despatches. Another option would be to ask IBM?!

you cannot increase your Error Logs Size. But you cannot get any problem becoz of your error logs. Your error logs contain most recent information and they increase in linear fashion |

You can increase your error logs up to 1 MEG by setting the following System Environmental value:
MQMAXERRORLOGSIZE=1000000
I have tested this on Windows and have gotten my error logs to grow to about 1 MEG. _________________ Peter Potkay

This is only available in CSD02 - This is useful as it definately aids inbound and outbound throughput (so long as you are not logging the messages in and out). |
