Hi,
Does anyone know what is the limit of queue file size in MQSeries v5.2 for
OS/390.
I know that for some Unix platforms it is 2GB per single queue.
Is it the same for OS/390?

There is no limit for message queue file size on OS/390 (z/OS). The queues are held in page sets which are VSAM datasets. You can have up to 100 of them, and each can be as large as your volume space will allow.
There is however limit on the number of messages in a queue - 999999999, and the size of a individual message is limited to 104857600 bytes.
The numbers I supplied are valid for version 5.2 _________________ Marcin Grabinski <>< |

Well, that it true but the filesize is limited to 4GB in version 5.3, so a single queue can be as big as 4 GB.
This was found in Concepts and Planning Guide for version 5.3 for MQS:
Quote: |
WebSphere MQ page sets can be up to 4 GB in size. Each page set is identified by
a page set identifier (PSID), an integer in the range 00 through 99. |

4 GB is the limit. We hit the limit here a couple of times (with 5.2). |

One more comment about MQ on OS/390.
A single queue cannot span more than one pageset. A queue can belong to a Storage Class (STGCLASS). A Storage Class can only reside on one pageset (Pagesets are numbered 00-99 - maximum of 100).
Therefore, by definition, a queue can only reside in one pageset.

Is it still a max size queue of 4GB in MQ 5.3.1 on z/OS? |
