The MQ Analyst is responsible for all aspects of MQ Series administration, which includes installation, configuration, definitions, and testing. The analyst has complete responsibility for its care and feeding. The analyst will work with developers to design the queue structures and usage guidelines for their application. Additionally the analyst is responsible for troubleshooting, facilitating problem resolution, assisting application programmers who are unfamiliar with MQSeries, recommends product upgrades on all platforms, provides and maintains policies and procedures, and best practices documentation for administration and programming. Complies with established policies and standards to ensure that access to company information and systems’ resources, in any medium or format, is limited to authorized personnel. Cooperates with internal and external information security audits.
Requires BS/BA in related discipline and 8-11 years of experience and/or equivalent.
Minimum of five years progressive responsibility in business data processing.
Minimum of three years experience with MQ Series in a complex, multi-platform environment.
In-depth experience with MQSeries running on OS/390, HP/Unix and AS/400.
Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical and performance issues.
Must be customer and service oriented
Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills.
Ability to work as a team member in all aspects of responsibilities and assignments.
Desired Qualifications:
Self-motivated with a willingness to take responsibility for MQSeries and be the subject matter expert.
Ability/desire to enhance the environment by proactively looking for opportunities to improve architecture, methods, etc.
Ability/desire to provide knowledge transfer to others
MQ coding experience on various platforms using VB, Cobol and C++, Java
Experience with MQ clustering
Experience with shared queues
Experience with Qpasa!, Tivoli or similar is a plus.
