We have recently seen issues with MQ in an environment where our Disaster Recovery is acheived using a Global Copy/Global Mirror setup. What happens is that if Global Mirror cant take a consistency group for a long period of time it can hold up disk writes while it tries to get consistency between disks between the main and dr site. This slows down disk writes which in a high throughput MQ system affects the speed of logging and writing persistent messages.
What we found was that in a MQ cluster setup on an AIX system, messages started backing up significantly in the SYSTEM.CLUSTER.TRANSMIT.QUEUE causing major throughput problems. There were no other MQ or application errors to be found just extremely slow throughput due to the backup on this queue. As soon as the consistency group was completed performance magically returned to normal (albeit with a bit of a flood)
Wondering if anyone else is running under a Global Copy/Mirror solution and has seen this type of impact to MQ.
