AFAIK the log path is fixed when the queue manager is created. So you need to save the queue manager settings & delete/redefine. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

dunno whether this is supported, but one could stop the queue manager, change the the log path in qm.ini, move the files and restart the queue manager.
But, that's on your own risk, and I would strongly suggest to do a backup before, and try on test first. |

It's not supported, it may well work but your first mistake would probably be your last!
I try not to perpetuate potentially dubious dodges (no matter how useful) and preach the supported path of virtue.
Also on v6 I believe qm.ini has migrated into the Windows Registry, and editing that adds a whole new level of danger to the process..... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Thanks for the reply.
Can I change the Queue managers and logs path in the registry.
Will be any problem, if I do so?
Thanks in advance. |

I would NEVER change any registry setting unless absolutely certain of what I was doing and had total confidence of the effects.
Or put simply, never. You can't have that level of confidence in the wretched software.
If you've got MBv5, which MQ are you running? Prior to v6 I believe that the qm.ini file exists and you could make the change sebastianhirt referred to.
I would still council the supported method. But that's just me. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Again, yes but I wouldn't recommend it for MQ.
MB maintains it's logs separately so a change to qm.ini will not affect it. I don't believe there's an equivalent for qm.ini for MB; the logging is separate and works differently.
Check the product admin guides for detailed information. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Are you referring to "recovery logs" or "human readable error logs"?
There are no "recovery logs" for broker ....
For MQ, you can't change the location of "human readable error logs", it's fixed.
For Broker, its controlled by syslog.conf .... _________________ -wayne |

At the risk of sounding nosey, is there a real good reason for ever wanting to do this? Just curious... _________________ IBM Certified MQSeries Specialist

You might want to point the files to an area with more space, where the current position has a number of applications diminisishing free space. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Or did you mean "why would you not use the supported method"?
I'm the wrong person to ask, but if you had your back to the wall space wise you might consider an edit. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Why would anybody other than an MQ administrator want or need to view the logs?? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
