I had problems with my WBIMB 6.0.0.1 toolkit on Windows XP so attempted to reinstall it. The uninstall gave errors, but after a reboot it had disappeared form add/remove programs.

I reinstalled it from an install image on desk (v6.0.0.0). It ran happily to the end when it was inititating the toolkit (I can't quite remember). There was another window in the background with an error message.

I clicked okay and the install claimed to happily complete. However whenever I try to run up the toolkit I get the same error message.

JVM terminated. Exit code=1
E:\IBM\MessageBrokersToolkit\6.0\.\eclipse\jre\bin\javaw.exe
-Xj8
-Dorg.eclipse.emf.ecore.EPackage.Registry.INSTANCE=org.eclipse ....

Any ideas?

Potential progress:

I added flags to my shortcut and the broker started up (slowly)
E:\IBM\MessageBrokersToolkit\6.0\wmbt.exe -vmargs -Xmx384M

I discovered there was probably a heap size problem when running the mqsicreatebar command:

D:\esb\src>mqsicreatebar -data d:\esb\src\wmb_workspace -b dist/Audit-msg_flows.
bar -o Audit-msg_flows\com\esb\system\audit\final\ESB_AUD_FINAL_AUDIT.m

Could not create the Java virtual machine.

How is the heap size set globally? Is there some corrupt file somewhere from my failed uninstall?

Update:
I've tried reinstalling this again (including a complete broker uninstall).

Total steps:
I run uninstall.
I delete the install dir.
I delete everything related I could find in the regeistry.
I delete everything related I could find in the users documents and settings

I'm still getting the errors for the toolkit and mqsicreatebar described in the previous posts. Is there anything I missed when doing the uninstall? I remember from v5 that DistHub used to cause problems.

I usually see the kinds of Eclipse errors when starting the Toolkit if I've mangled the startup command line.

Try "E:\IBM\MessageBrokersToolkit\6.0\wmbt.exe -clean"

Make sure to create a new workspace.

See what happens.

Look in the workspace/.metatdata/.log file for more information.

The same thing happens. The toolkit bombs out straight away - before it has time to think.

I suspect it thinks it has a memory problem, but I know neither how to confirm this, or how to fix it.

Persistance had paid off.

I uninstalled.
I cleared all references from the registry.
I deleted the directory structure.
I cleared out relavant stuff from user directories.
I rebooted the machine.
I made sure no broker/mq/java processes were running.
I stopped the virus checker.

I installed the broker toolkit.

It worked. Finally.
