Hi all,
What is the difference between using SVRCONN and CLNTCONN when defining the client channel tab file.
Do I need to define both types (SVRCONN and CLNTCONN) above when i am creating the channel tab file? If the answer is NO to the above question then when do we choose between these two types of client connection channels?
I really appreciate your reply in this regard and any reference to your answer is very much appreciated.

The client channel is only used as a lookup to the server connection. It's not a "real" channel per se, it just points the application using the tab file to the server connection channel.
You can use a server connection without specifying a client channel but then you either have to set the hostname, port etc in runtime or use the MQSERVER environment variable.

Hi
As the name implies SVRCONN and CLNTCONN are mainly used to connect Server and Client.
You know SVRCONN will be started or initiated from SERVER side
and CLNTCONN from CLIENT side.
The Client connection channel definition are stored in the client channel definition table of Queue manager This table is called AMQCLCHL.TAB and is a binary file that cannot be edited directly. You can use
the DEFINE CHANNEL command to add an entry to the table, and the ALTER CHANNEL command to alter the attributes of a channel that already has an entry in the table.
Hope you got what i stated here, so there is a connection between all these.
