The MQ Rules and Formatter Header version 2 is designed to hold information about a message (meta data) that can be used for making decisions about the message - where to send it and how to format or process it.

For a basic example, the MQRFH2 can hold a Message Domain and Message Type and etc. that will override the vales of those properties on an MQInput node. So when Message Broker reads a message, it will use those to decide what Domain, parser and model to use to turn the message into a logical message tree.

The header is also designed to hold the custom properties of the JMS message in it's usr folder. The Using Java manual has a map of how the regular properties interact with the MQRFH header.

Enjoy
