I am trying to find some supporting document to push for 6.0 upgrade. The Development team wants to migrate to 6.0 but the Administration guys want to upgrade only the Config manager and Toolkit to 6.0 for now and do the Broker upgrade at a later point. Since the toolokit will be upgraded I think for administators its not a big change deploying a BAR file to 6.0 broker rather than to 5.0 broker. Are there any other admin tasks different in 6.0 from 5.0? I already have migration redbook and manuals. Is there any other supporting documentation that I can use to convince our admins?
Regards

There's very little value to only upgrading the Toolkit and the configmgr.
In fact, you're better off upgrading the broker before you upgrade the Toolkit.
If your admins need convincing of this, just send them a bar file that includes an MQGet node, and insist that they deploy it to a v5 broker. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Two other improvements to admin that require a v6 broker:If you're using XSL stylesheets, deployment and admin is a lot easier now (you can deploy stylesheets inside BARs, and manage them without manually playing with files the broker machine)
If you're using Java plugin nodes, you can now use Java Compute nodes - which again can be deployed inside BARs and be easily managed I'm sure there are other reasons that I've forgotten - see the what's new page in the v6 docs.[/list] |
