I am having to reinstall the base V6 Toolkit after an ugrade to FP6.0.0.2 caused problems (another story!).
I uninstalled the Toolkit using the wizard, and manually removed various directories/files that were not removed during the uninstall. However when I attempt to install the Toolkit now I get:
'The java class is not found: run'
:when I try to install from 'Advanced Installation' in the mqsilaunchpad (Disk1).
What should I do to get around this. I am a member of the Administrators group. |

Is that the toolkit disk 1? or the runtime disk 1? |

Tool Disk 1 of 4....most frustrating as I have installed the base toolkit several times. Unfortunately this error message really does not indicate exactly what is missing. |

Have you tried running the setup executable on the cd in the /setup/ folder? (Not a nice solution, but hopefully will get it installing for you) |

Is it possible that you don't have your installer disks in the right directory structure? Are you working with actual, physical media, or Cds that have been copied to disk? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Out of interest, is this the 6.0.0.0 or 6.0.0.1 cd's you are having trouble with? |

Am trying to reinstall the base Toolkit from a set of four downloaded 'disk' images (from which I have previously installed successfully). I have tried from Setup as well as the launchpad but get the same java-related error. |

Well, did you reextract the downloaded images, or are they in the same layout as when it was successful? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I tried both actually....re-extracted from the .zip for disk 1 but same result. It make me wonder if my problem is actually with the InstallShield. |

Is setup.jar in the same location as the mqsilaunchpad.exe? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Ah ha!
You need setup.jar. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

There is a 'Setup' folder under folder 'Disk1' that contains a 'Setup' application but it is not a jar? |

Yes, you could run that directly.
You won't be able to get what you need from launchpad without setup.jar, though. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Jeff,
You are indeed the man!....I re-extracted yet again and the .jar turned up under Disk1, although it was not in the previous Disk1 folder?! Possibly some housekeeping problems. It didn't immediately fix the problem but further poking around has suddenly caused the install to start working so am relieved about that!
Many thanks for the suggestions and support. |
