We currently have WAS 5.x and it has a downscaled version of MQ as part of it called embedded messaging.

Earlier this year we were told (by whom, I'm not sure) that WAS 6.0 will have a full-blown copy of MQ as part of it and it can be used for WAS applications - thus possibly saving some license costs of MQ.

But - when searching all the information on ibm's site about WAS 6.x, I see that it will work with MQ, and it has something called an MQ link, but nowhere do I see that it actually comes with MQ, as we were lead to believe.

Can anyone out there who actually has WAS 6.x tell me exactly what kind of MQ comes with it (full blown or embedded messaging or some other variant)?

Thanks
Scott

It's actually some other variant.
It's not full blown MQ for sure. It is not embedded messaging either.
The Messaging engine that comes with WAS can talk to regular MQ using MQ Link (unlike v5 messaging which couldn't).

It is always recommended to use regular MQ and the savings on the costs by not buying an MQ license would be eaten into the administration costs I think.
