I have an cluster with 12 WebSphere MQ V5.2 for AIX queue managers ( each on a different server), two of the queue managers are repository queue managers.
.
I would like to phase in an upgrade to WebSphere MQ V5.3 accross the cluster. What are the restrictions, if any, of mixing and matching V5.2 and V5.3 queue managers in a single Cluster ?

As far as I know, there is no issue with version 5.2 and 5.3 queue managers participating in the same cluster.
However, I would urge caution during the upgrade phase. You will run into the same issues that you do whenever you attempt to remove a queue manager from a cluster. Namely, you must follow the removal process to a 'T' or you will end up with ghost queues/channels... _________________ Brandon Duncan

thanks for the update ....
We do not need to remove a queue manager from a cluster before upgrading it do we ? |

I believe if you follow the upgrade instructions, it should maintain any queue managers you have defined. On unix at least, since all the queue managers exist in /var/mqm/qmgrs, while all the MQSeries application code resides in /opt/mqm, there should be no reason that the upgrade process alters anything in /var/mqm. _________________ Brandon Duncan
