We plan to use MQSI 202 (on AIX 433) directly updating Oracle 817 databases on Solaris 8 with XA coordination.
If a firewall is in between the broker and the database - will this cause problems? What ports need to be opened and will the ODBC session be kept alive (because the firewall closes inactive sessions)?
Is there any option to have a "heartbeat" on the broker's ODBC connections?
We have excatly this set-up.
However we're running 2.1 CSD 2 as there is issues with disconnects with previous versions (i.e. 2.0.2). what happens is if the connection dies to Oracle (or DB2 for that matter), MQSI does not recover from it and you have to re-start the broker.
The ports you need are the same as defined in your tnsnames.ora file.
