what happens if you reach S9999999.log ?

Does it start back at S0000001.log or what happens?

You realise the server rusted away to nothing some years previously, and seek professional help for your delusions.

(Don't go to the guy I used )

I think the largest linear log I've ever seen was in 5 figures, and that was just before it got decommissioned because the box was obsolete.

My best serious thought - take effective backups when it starts writing S9999997.log & post what happens here!

If there's any justice IBM would send it a telegram.

No telegram then?

I suspected there was no justice in the world, but couldn't prove it before.

Anyone got any idea (or any formula for calculating) how long it would take to generate that many log files? Clearly dependant on message throughput and log file size, but about how long for an "average" queue manager?

When you first creare a LL qmgr, S0000000.LOG is created, so "I think" it'd wrap to that .
