I am not sure if this question belongs here in this section. I was reading up on Meditation flows in PS and to me it looks similar to the concept of message flows in Message Broker/MQSI/WMQI . Does any one know if Process Server is going to take on the role of message broker here. Can anyknow let me know the direction IBM is taking in re-orienting the three big Business Integration tools ( ICS, WF and Message Broker) w.r.t Process server. _________________ Thanks

FWIW: I seem to recall seeing statements like WPS is "Broker lite". I am certain that I have seen statements indicating that Broker is not going away. _________________ John McDonald

Message broker will not go away. IBM is touting it as an advanced ESB product. Infact, the functionality of message broker is so rich that it really is an advanced ESB.
Now, the mediations that you are seeing in WPS are not actually of WPS but are of another product called WESB (WebSphere ESB). Now WPS is built on top of WESB, and hence they have mediations also.

Yes, WESB has some features of Message Broker.
I too had the same feeling. |

LOL. ROFL reading my own statement. I meant mediation flows not meditation flows. Though I think I need lots of meditation to understand the grits of this paradigm shift _________________ Thanks

Under what context do we use mediation flows?.
the documentation says: Link ( http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/dmndhelp/v6rxmx/topic/com.ibm.wbit.help.wiring.ui.doc/topicsib/csib_wiring.html )
"Introducing mediation flows between services enables you to process the messages that are being passed between these services. A message is a communication sent from one application or service to another application or service. Mediation flows intercept and modify messages that are passed between services. For example, mediation flows can be used to find services with specific characteristics that a requester is seeking and to resolve interface differences between requesters and providers. For complex interactions, mediation primitives can be linked sequentially. Typical mediations include:
Transforming a message from one format to another so that the receiving service can accept the message
Conditionally routing a message to one or more target services based on the contents of the message
Augmenting a message by adding data from a data source "
I believe that the above mentioned can also be done using the normal module interface. can you guys explain why and when we use mediation modules than module in process server? |
