How much Memory does a MQ Client needs(for both Win and Unix). Definately it depends on # of client connection channel.
But just a vague idea, if a client is having, say 10 client connection channel. |

MQClient is just a bunch of files (libraries/executables). It doesn't need any memory.
The program that calls them needs memory, and we don't know how much memory your program needs. _________________ Peter Potkay

Thanks Peter. One more question:
Suppose I have a central Qmgr by name XYZ. MQ Clients link to this Qmgr. And Client numbers could run into hundreds(nearly 1800). What are the factors that determines: How much (RAM) memory to put on box where Qmgr XYZ is running? (For both windows and Unix)
Again, if instead of MQ Clients, 1800 qmgr are connected to a central qmgr XYZ through regular sender- reciever channel. What factors determine :how much memory should then be put on box where Qmgr XYZ is running? (For both Windows and Unix) |

there is no formula. 1800 clients or remote QMs sending 1 message an hour 1000 bytes long are gonna use less memory than 1800 clients / QMs sending 1 message a minute that is 100K bytes long.
Look at the perfomance support packs on IBm's site for your platform, and see what #s IBm got with their particular hardware config.
I have 2000 clients connected to a Windows server with only 4 GB of memory, no problems.
Memory is cheap. Production outages are not. Get as much memory as you can. I asked for 12 GB on my new Linux MQ Client Concentrators. _________________ Peter Potkay
