We have many MQ queues & channels on our server1 box. Now when I need to create another box (server2) with same queue manager and same object types and channels, I should use the support pack ms03.
The queues & channels will be re-created if I do so. But do I need to explicitly define and start new listeners for each channel, or will they be defined when the support pack is executed?
Thank you,
ss. |

If you're running V5.3, you'll need to handle the listener's explicitly (via runmqlsr or inetd). You don't need a seperate listener for each channel, however. One listener can handle multiple channels.
btw...in V6 of MQ, you can define listeners, which are captured by ms03 (saveqmgr), so you woudln't need to worry about handling it manually. _________________ -wayne |

But since those channels in Server1 were already defined with different ports for each of them, when I run saveqmgr and import the files, I should define the listeners and start them explicitly, right?
(I don't want to modify the channel definitions again, but just want to re-create exactly similar to server1)
I'm using MQ v 5.3. |

But you only need listeners for RECEIVER style (rcvr, svrconn, etc.) channels. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
