Hi

We are using TSM agent for backup on a server which hosts MQ5.3 , MB 5, DB2 8.1 on solaris.

backup procedure takes very long time . We are asked to reduce this time to nearly 7 hrs.

Is there any tool or some different TSM agent that we can use to reduce Backup time.?

Are you doing a full file backup or just a differential file backup?

In case of a full file backup, start with the files not affected by broker, db, and mq. Then stop those and back their respective file systems up and restart them. This should not take nearly as much time.

If you are backing up over a network try running the backup to a local machine over a superfast connection with enough bandwidth.

Enjoy

It depends. Will there be less data to backup?
The real question is to determine where the bottleneck is.
Like I said if it is a full system file backup you may have to split it into broker relevant file systems and non broker relevant file systems. This reduces the downtime to the broker relevant file systems...

Enjoy

Hi

Thanks again ..

Is there any way we can configure TSM Agent to split up files as broker and non broker related files?

As its huge data , manually splittin up data and taking backup would take much more time .

I expect them to be on different mounted volumes. Ask your admin if he can backup by mounted volume.
